Wallace Plese + Dreher’s partners, managers, and staff took time away from their busy schedules to give back to a worthy cause, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, located in Mesa, Arizona, dedicated to feeding children around the world. With close to 20 employees participating, our people experienced a one-of-a-kind opportunity to pack meals for children that may go days without eating. FMSC is known for Something Greater™ as being a “collective of individuals who know that small actions can add up to incredible transformation.”
Most of our people had never participated with FMSC. Once everyone was registered, we were given an overview of FMSC and quickly trained on the food-packing process. We hand-packed rice, soy, dried vegetables, and nutritionally blended vitamins into bags. After all the items were placed into the bags, they were sealed, boxed, and put on pallets for shipping. Everyone participating recognized we had a competitive spirit and time went by quickly. To keep us motivated, FMSC played songs such as 9 To 5 (Dolly Parton); She Works Hard for the Money (Donna Summers); and Manic Monday (The Bangles).
